Dr. Young took the first group of students from Second Baptist Church to Beach Retreat in June of 1979 to Port Aransas, Texas.

In that first year High School Beach Retreat had 78 people and JHigh Beach Retreat had 42.

Both High School and JHigh Beach Retreats moved to South Padre Island in 1980 where they stayed in beach homes. A few years later they moved to condominiums.

High School Beach Retreat moved to San Destin, Florida in 1996 and then to our current location in Orange Beach, Alabama in 1998

In 2008 High School Beach Retreat had 1272 people and JHigh Beach Retreat had 889.

Dr. Young has been on more than 100 beach retreats…this includes Beach Retreats with students before he came to Second Baptist Church.
